Jessica Ramey Stender is the Policy Director and Deputy Legal Director for Equal Rights Advocates, a California-based organization that fights for gender justice in workplaces and schools across the country.
She leads ERA’s policy advocacy, with a focus on pay and pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment. She also represents workers in employment discrimination cases and coordinates the Stronger California Advocates Network, a coalition of organizations promoting policy reform to improve the economic security of women and families in California.
Her grandmother, Estelle Ramey, was a trailblazing endocrinologist, professor and speaker who befriended Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ginsburg gave the eulogy at Estelle’s funeral, and for Stender, growing up around such strong women shaped her into the lawyer and advocate she became.
